After replacing distributor dust cap and distributor cap when I go to crank up the tractor, I am getting no fire, I removed the cap and discovered the rotor was shattered, I then replaced it with a new rotor only to have it happen again when I tried to start tractor. I hope someone has a solution for the problem, I am new with working on old tractors, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Rick53

Sounds like your rotor and distributor cap are hitting each other and the cap is stronger. One is not right for your tractor and this problem started after you changed the cap. I would look at it first.

I will also add you may not be installing the rotor button all the way down on the distributer shaft. If it is sticking up it will hit the cab and get broken.

So first compare the "new" to old and make sure they are exactly the same. Then make sure your getting the rotor button on right.

There is a little spring "clip" that goes on the shaft before the rotor goes on. I tried to find one on line, but haven't . all my parts books are in the shop. When you find one , get two, very easy to lose, don't ask. joe

First of where did you get your parts?? TSC is yes that is a big part of your problem there China made parts that are almost right. Plus do you have the rotor clip if it is missing the rotor will not sit down tight and that can cause them to get broken.
