How long has it been since this starter was last used? To clarify what is in the picture- I am bringing life back to a fence-row 1937 WC Allis. The starter would not respond, so tonight I took the starter off and found this - a whole lot of mud dauber nests plus rust, looking like the thing had been filled with water at some point in time, and was stuck solid. Much to my surprise, after some emery cloth and elbow grease, it cleaned right up AND TURNED OVER!

The starter for my 39 F-20 had a stuck bearing on the end plate. Obviously it had set off a while also.

Around here, dirt daubers can build those in about 3 days.
I hate those things.
