Where to get Deere oil filter gasket without $$$ to ship?

+I have a Deere 2010 gas and yesterday I changed the oil and broke that gasket that seals the filter housing. This is NOT a modern cartridge filter, it's the old-school element type.

Deere part number is an M96T. NAPA lists it but it is NLA.

I know this seal has come with the filter in the past, but it was NOT included with the Fram filter I bought yesterday.

I can find sources online, everybody is about the same on price but then crazy on shipping. $7.99++++ to ship a $2 seal.

Anyone know where I can get one with reasonable shipping?

Many thanks.

Before I figured out that on my IH444 I had old gasket stuck in the filter housing , I destroyed gasket after gasket on my NAPA filters. I emailed Wix and/or telephoned them and , ISAIR , they sent me a bunch on a complimentary basis.

More than 30 years I fussed with filter replacements before I figured it out -- probably from a well-informed Forum member here.

Can't Deere get it?

I'm sure they can, but I use my friendly local Deere dealer as a parts source of last resort because of their surly service and sky-high prices.

My bet is the local dealer price will be $9.99 AND yes, they will have to order it in and it will take a week.

However, it will take some time to find out. I just called them and they have a special service where their phone rings 8 times and if they don't answer it, it just dumps the call. Nice.

Your local Deere dealer should be able to order it on a "stock order" and not charge any shipping. Price appears to be $1.43 from Deere.

I wouldn't use a fram filter in the hydraulics. I've had trouble with them in the past. The JD might cost more, but it is the right micron hole size for the hydraulics, the fram might not.

Well first off I would not use a Fram filter period. Second what do you think the person selling a $1.43 part is going to make??????? So a $7-10 shipping charge is in line by the time you pack it and ship it.

Just have your local dealer order it stock order and buy 2-5 and keep them on hand. As for the phone. Right now the dealerships around here are swamped with hay season and spraying. So the fellows are busy.

Or order 2-5 of them online and make the shipping charge worthwhile.

How much gas are you going to burn driving back and forth to the Deere dealer twice? Gas is ~$3 a gallon. If you have to drive 30 miles each way to the nearest dealer, and you only get 20MPG, shipping is cheaper.

WIX part number for the gasket is 15221. ($0.69 and up through auto parts stores.)

Or, buy a WIX 51148 or NAPA 1148 filter and the gasket comes with it.

The engine oil filter for that machine should be an AH1111RT.It should use an M96T packing.I believe the numbers have been changed, but if I walk into the dealers parts counter and ask for those numbers they hand me the right ones. Most important is to make sure you get the metal washer off the end of the filter and put it on the new one. They will glue themselves so tight to the old paper filters you will just assume it is part of it.If you don't use the washer the spring will chew it's way into the paper, and send pieces all through your engine. It's hard to believe JD dealers don't have them in stock, and the parts guys don't have those numbers memorized. Then again,it has been a while since I worked at one.I left there the week they introduced the 2940 to replace the 2840.

Well, I was mostly right. Finally got through to the local Deere dealer. The part is $2.00. However....

They only sell them in a pack of 4. No, I'm not kidding. So $9 plus tax, not the $9.99 that I predicted. I feel like I've won the lottery, this is the first time I've EVER over-estimated how much that dealer would charge for a part.

The only good news is they can have them by Friday or Saturday. That is by far the fastest they'd ever gotten parts for me, if, of course, they show up on time.

Thanks guys, it was worth a shot.

DEERE ships 'em in packs of 4, so if the dealer doesn't stock it and sells you ONE, they have to put three in inventory.

I see the nearest dealer to me doesn't stock them either, but 4 would cost $6!

Wonder how they manage to charge $9?????

In my case, there are 4 in stock at the dealership's other stores, and they would do a transfer between stores within a day or two and have from 1 to 4 ready for pickup at no extra charge. Wonder if the mega-dealer you are dealing with has some within their system?

I think there should be some kind of a governmental senate investigation or federal house inquiry on this whole thing. Obviously, it's not gonna be solved or
sorted out here on YT so contact your local elected representative and get the ball rolling. This is after all a small rubber gasket, those things don't
exactly grow on trees you know !!!!
