JB Weld Perma Seal radiator leak

I have a 70 John Deere with a leak in the radiator. Not wanting to take the radiator out if possible.
Has anyone ever used the JB Weld Perma Seal product? IT is one you add to the radiator liquid and it
supposedly will seal the leak. Would just like any comments on whether to use products like this or
the JB Weld products
Thanks.

hat is the tube of red pepper-like powder. I used it for tiny leaks in combine radiator back around late 80's and today it remains leak free. Also in my 62 PU for heater core leak and had to replenish it once in last 20 years. Also in my MF275 ...leak free today... Yes, I'm a believer in it and it is such a small volume that I don't worry about it stopping anything up that it isn't supposed to. If a big leak, it likely won't stop it.

I've had good luck with Bar leak copper. I have it in my Ford 1 ton that my wife ran into the tractor and that pout a hole in the radiator. I put in the bars leak and it has been in there for years now and still holding

Yep, Bars-leak for me also. I have had great success with it. Don't know about in a JD 70 though. The way them things shake and bounce.

That Ford 1 ton I have shakes rattle and rolls. 1965 with dump bed so it gets it share of bouncing and shaking. Neat thing is that it only has 80,898 miles on it

I've also had good success with Bars Leak products. Used to use one that was a black liquid with semi-solid pellets, not sure they still offer that, but it was my favorite.

A couple things that need to happen for it to be successful though.

The leak needs to be low enough it is below the liquid level line. A leak in the top tank, above the coolant level will not seal.

And there needs to be some means of the system to build pressure and come up to operating temperature when the stop leak is put in. A good cap and thermostat (if equipped) will help. If this is a non pressurized system, unless you can find a way to put a couple pounds pressure on it, the odds are not good.

Time for a story about Bars Leak. I was setting at a stop sign when a state truck came through and hit the salt&sand spreader,he put a chunk in the radiator,it was shooting a stream two feet past the grill. I went to a store and bought a bottle of the pelt style Bars Leak,I watched it stop the leak. That was about twenty years ago,it is still holding. 1976 Chevy pu.

They have good products if you don't expect miracles and give it the time it needs to work. I have fixed a leaky radiator tank and heater core with the perma seal product.

It was mentioned already but if you can see the leak and have access to it then try the regular 2 part JBweld epoxy around the leak area. If you need to thin the mixture to help it flow into the area you can add a little acetone or lacquer thinner to the mix .
