Farmall Regular brakes

Hi guys.
I?m in need of some information for brakes on a ?27 Regular.
Did they only come with one brake on the left side (hand brake)? Or was there hand brakes on both sides?

Can anyone tell me the information on the optional foot brake? If you had the optional foot brake does that mean the steering brake cables were no longer used?

I have a foot brake that came with the tractor that is a single one mounted on the right side, but I don?t know if it is correct to the tractor, and I don?t know how the steering cable brakes would work with them....

If anyone would maybe have a picture of the optional foot brake setup. That would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Our 1927 Regular came with one hand brake, on the left side. We have added aftermarket foot brakes, from an F20, which work on both sides. They don't interfere with the steering brake cables. If you've ever needed to use the brakes, backing off trailer ramps, you would be glad you had foot brakes, as the hand brake only stops the left wheel.

Hi Loren!
Thanks! So a question with that...
Do you just share the same hole on each side, that the brake cable/ spring connects to and for the foot brake peddle connection, to active the brakes?
Know wher I mean?

Heres some pictures of my F20.

I'll try to remember to snap a picture of our '31 Regular with added foot brake from the front view... and post it in a couple days.

The only pic I can find tonight shows it from the back - which is not really helpful. But here it is anyway.

Uhmmm, I was thinking rear foot brake... so ours may not be at all what you are wanting pics of.

I found some pictures of foot brakes for F20 but could not find any photo of regular with foot brakes.

the cable pulls on a lever attatched to the brake shaft, the foot pedals push on the back side of that lever in most cases . There is an eye that the spring on the cable goes through. There are several brake setups and some may differ, but most foot brakes I have seen are set up that way.

I think Regulars were manufactured with only one lockable left brake, hand operated.

There were brakes for both the left and the right wheels, and both were indeed

operated by a cable from the front steering mechanism. If a hand brake was needed

on the right side, a pipe or rod needed to be welded to the horizontal shaft that

goes to the brake drum.
