Hi guys-any one ever rent or buy a towable lift boom to put a new tin roof on your barn? Got prices for a new roof and was surprised what they want. Even the Amish want over 15000 for a 80 foot barn. Any thoughts? Thanks

Those tow able life booms are really limited in what they will do. Your better off spending some money and just rent a true skylift type of machine for a time to do your roof.

I will agree to disagree. We rented a towable, electric bucket lift. Think was 50 ft. Worked perfect. We were just going 25 ft high and our Building was 32 ft long. Had 6 batteries like a golf cart. Plus a charging cord. It was 150 a day. We left it hooked to a pickup. You just hit the leveling buttons and it automatically leveled itself.

Used portable 45 footer several times. Suggest you always have 2nd person on ground and stable blocks under outrigging. I was painting upper house trim when lift indicated "out of level" This elimantes all basket moves but down. Couldn't go down as basket was nearly against house. On ground person was able to shake machine so it recovered level indication permitting boom retracting and repositioning blocking. Would have been quite a task getting from basket to ground if working alone.
