4835 New Holland

At the township (Im a twp. trustee) we have a NH 4835 tractor, used for mowing ditches. Im not a new holland tractor guru. In fact this is
the second or third one I ever sat on.

It has the reverser, control located on left side of tractor.

Last summer, one of the guys were out mowing, and it "quit moving". He/they towed it to the garage, parked it in our barn. Convieniently
did not mention it....(we have three mowing tractors, this is a 'spare', does not get used as much. That employee is no longer with the
TWP, we went to use the tractor and discovered it will not move.....a couple phone calls got us the story that he was mowing, it quit
moving, he towed to the shop and put in the barn.

When attempting to operate it, it will slightly, I mean SLIGHTLY attempt to pull in reverse, like barely rock the tractor.

Nothing in forward.

The reverser lever has a detent and you can clearly feel forward and reverse detents.

Anyone have experience with this? Is it a split the tractor deal or can you remove top cover and get to it that way?

Im thinking it is the shifting fork broke off....were thinking of doing it in house. One of the other Trustees is a farmer also, and we are
both pretty handy with a wrench....Looking to see how big a job it is

The XX35 series are Fiat tractors with blue paint. My guess would be the roll pins in the linkage/rail rather than the fork itself. Go to your local New Holland dealer and see if they'll let you read or copy the service manual pages you need. They may still have somebody there who had been sent to school on them.

This may not help but if you download the new holland my shed app you can put in your model and look at diagrams of how it goes together and what parts are there or missing. It is no where near a service manual just parts but I look at it often to make sure everything is in the proper place and installed

If it is a 24 spd transmission, it may be the 2 speed hydraulically operated power shift. I had a problem with the one hydraulic filter sucking air and the power shift dropping out and then the tractor would not move. I have a 7635 with 5000 hrs on it. For the most part have had good luck with it.

Yes, if it is the 24x12 (splitter switch on main stick) they drop to "turtle" when tractor is in reverse, even if the switch is in "rabbit"

Will it move forward in "turtle"?
