What I found today speed queen washer

With all the talk in the past about them being the go too washing machine on here, I was in the local appliance store today and seen they had speed queens on the floor. Got to looking and they had the commercial ones with dials and no computer, so I asked about them and she had 6 more of those models. $800 for the washer and $700 for the matching electric dryer. Is there anything else I should know before writing the check tomorrow?

How much to deliver and haul the other away. You'll like it .We've had ours for 6 years and have had not one problem.

After 2 stupid low water washers that barely got my clothes wet, we bought a Speed Queen. My wife will fist fight you, if you ever tried to take it away.

Depends on if you have to pay for water or if you are on your own septic system or municipal. Front loaders use 1/3 the water and have three times the agitation.

The service tech for the appliance store sold me on Speed Queen.
He had a warranty call from Speed Queen to show an elderly couple
how to use a function on their nineteen yr old machine.
He said they were the best company to deal with on warranty calls,
both for the customer and service people.
As a former service tech in HVAC and air compressors that said a
lot to me.
My wife loves the machines.

That's the one the "Appliance Doctor" Joe Gagnon recommends. He repaired appliances for many years, he says, "buy no other than a Speed Queen without the electronics".

We bought one just like that five years ago. It has done nothing but wash lots of cloths. ZERO problems. Spins the cloths really dry too so the Dryer does not have to work as hard. This one should be the last one we buy.

We had one of the HIGH DOLLAR Efficiency washers/dryers. It never would get truly dirty cloths clean. Maybe City office dirty but sure not farm dirty. It lasted less than 4 years and the drum seal went bad and filled the gear box with water. Ruin it. The parts to fix it was within $50 of what I gave for the Speed Queen. Around $600 then.

We have had a front load Whirlpool for 16 yrs. & I wouldn't trade it for 2 Speed Queens.
Uses way less water and will hold a huge basket full of clothes. It also gets my work
clothes nice and clean. Also, I highly recommend Persil laundry detergent.....cleans really
well and the cloths smell fresh. (I do all my own laundry & the wife does hers)

Yes, If it is a 2018 model (black face around the dials) it has a computer in it even though it still has dials. Plus they did away with the agitator in the 2018 models as it is now simply bolted to the tub. If it is a 2017 or older model (white face around the dials there is no computer and still has an agitator that circulates the clothes.

Get on YouTube and see how well the 2017 model works....and how poor the 2018 model works. Just bought two leftover 2017 models. (one set for the wife and one set for Mom. Both like em so far).

Well just to add, our old set is still fine and working ok but I haven't liked them for the stupid alarms that go off and lights stay on until you come turn it off, and they don't get my dirty jeans clean either. They were the high end Bosch front loads we got them 8 years ago. We also have them in a basement laundry/bath room. Also have a laundry chute to save a few steps, but when I built the addition on the main floor 10 years ago we made a closet with folding doors for the washer and dryer, to use them when we get old and can't climb the stairs like we used to. That time has come so what the heck, we'll have a pair on both floors for awhile, since we both take our showers in the basement anyhow.

Here's a video of a former Speed Queen retailer/repair center in Ohio that used to RAVE about their products. He did a side-by-side test between a 2017 and 2018 year of the same model number, and the results were definitely saddening. Because of his videos, Speed Queen blacklisted him and ordered him to remove any and all Speed Queen literature, stock and signage from his store. They even tried to force him to remove his videos from Youtube. Here's two of his videos about the 2018 Speed Queen washers:

In this 3rd video from the same store, the guy actually takes a normal office stapler and, using just ONE staple, staples a large "Authorized Speed Queen" patch to a pair of pants. In any washer we've ever owned, one single staple would never have held. In the 2018 top-of-the-line Speed Queen, not only did the one staple hold, but the patch remained visible throughout the entire wash cycle.

We have a front load Maytag Neptune now and wife loves it. It was a great machine, but there was a common problem with the seal getting mold growth. Wife learned about that early on and has stayed on top of it. Now, she wants me to keep this thing running forever! *lol* Anyway, if the new Speed Queen had the spiral-type agitator like the top-load Maytag machines, I believe it would be a force to be reckoned with! As it is, however, I just don't see how it "can" get all the clothes clean.

That makes me sad to know they have cheapened the product. I have had a speed queen for years, it was not new when I got it and the thing has worked well for 10 years or so that I have had it. My wife has a high dollar POS upstairs in the main level of the house. I might do laundry up there when I either can't climb vthe steps or stop getting dirty. I'm 38 and work with my hands. LOL looks like I should get another new speed queen and moth balls it for the future.
