Good day on the tractor.

Put in a full day mowing yesterday, 13 hours, $1040 in the pocket and 15 gallons of diesel...wish all days were like that. 3 acres was river bottom, 1st gear work...rest was fairly easy, spots of heavy reed/canary in low spots. What would you call a good day?

Pretty good day. I drilled for 18 hours on 28 gallons including
road travel to and from fields on my 3020 diesel last winter
putting in grass seed .

wow cant believe they pay eighty bucks an hour to knock weeds down . what is the deal with a field of nothing . crp, investor holding it for houses?

Some just want to have a nice view when they look out their window, some have been given a notice by the county noxious weed board, some are afraid of wildfires, some want the property to look good for re-sale. Whatever the reason, this is my busy time of year. I wish they were all this easy, but I get a lot of rocky fields, heavily treed fields and some mountain fields where most people would not want to take a tractor....

It would be a good day for me....when I could afford to pay someone $80.00 a hr. for riding
around on a tractor. USA,USA,USA...

Guys like you are why I get all the hay I want to cut for free(LOL)Phone is ringing a lot these days since we've had all the rain people want their land cut off, I got all the hay I need to cut lined up and then some
so I'll turn them over to you.

Looks like a good job. I only have one job like that with green grass bottom land. It's hard to mow that thick grass. Most of my work is dry weeds, like today a nice three hour dry grass field. @115.00 hr. They had most of the tree stumps marked. I have a different flail mower this year. The blades are secured with a bolt, and nut. My other had a very bad blade hanger arrangement. If I would hit a stump it would tear out at least 6 blades. This mower just folds the blades back like it should, and rolls over a stump or rock. Stan

I rarely mow 'hay grade' fields...we live in a semi-arid area where it just doesn't pay to rock a field and maintain a hay field for one cutting a year, especially small patches.

You are running high maintenance equipment....I have done about $30k worth the mowing with $160 worth of blades, close to 400 hours on this last set and still cutting good. Hitting all the mole hills has made them serrated, and they cut pretty good like that LOL!
