I have a jd 450. Engine turns smoothly. Changed steering clutches. Now when i have no tracks on sprocket it turns good on every gear and also on reverse. When I but the tracks on nothing moves. Why? What did I do wrong ?

Thank you

Does it have the HLR transmission, if so the engine clutch may be going out or pressure plate springs weak, it might have enough left in it to turn without the torque of the tracks. There are rubber plugs in the top of the HLR transmission that you can pull and be able to see if the engine clutch and pressure plate are turning together.

Hi yes HLR transmission. Changed engine clutch two years ago. Can it be it is too much ingauged? it worked fine before changing the steering clutches.

Maybe the HLR clutch valve needs adjustment, check the pressure, you need around 160-180 psi.

If it is dry clutches did you make sure they measure within the tolerances of the book all stacked together and did you use a Gage to adjust the pressure plate
