Some may remember my posting about my prostate cancer a few weeks ago. No cancer is good, but given a choice I will take prostate cancer. The cure rate is very good. The previous weeks preparing for this week were something I would not wish on anyone. This week I just lay on a table and let this large machine give me radiation hits in 200 spots on my prostate for 45 minutes. As I lay there looking up at huge machine rotate around me, I am hoping it doesn't, go wild, and smash me. Three more days to go. The appointments are a fair distance away, I don't have much mowing to do this week which is good. Stan

Best wishes for you.
I know what you are talking about.
Now that I am retired I found the real meaning of retirement.
Plenty of time to spend at the Dr's office and the drug store.
I just give thanks that I have made it this far in life because some are born and don't get the chance.

yep. if you ask a retired guy how he is be prepared to spend 15 or 20 minutes listening. at least that's what folks who know me say.

Stan---good luck! I am told that many prostate cancers are very slow going,so depending on age many folks forgo the treatments?
but then again I have a few friends that had radiation and all so good so far.
I go in tomorrow for green light laser surgery--had it done once already about 8 years ago

I make a point not to discuss my medical problems when out shooting the breeze.
If somebody asks how am I doing I just say fine even if I'm not fine at the time.
I much rather talk about how she wiggles when she walks.

Best wishes for you, Stan! I've always enjoyed your posts and hope you are back on the tractor soon!!

When folks ask me how I am, I tell them "I'm fine. I've got a strong constitution and low expectations. I'm always fine."

My father in law had similar problem and treatment when he was in his 60's. Lived to be 88 and died of age related issues. Hope you have the same success.

Have you been warned about tired feeling a month or so after treatment? I had Tomotherapy about 13 years back, precision 'ray gun' targeting cancer cells. Radiation sickness from close to A bomb has similar symptoms, general weakness, tired felling for 6 months or more- for me it was better than a year recovering strength. Did knock PSA down to about zero for 10 years as doc said it would. Cryotherapy couple years back- this time it was freeze the cancer cells, no loss of strength to worry about- just loss of bladder capacity- Term 'Alte(old) Pisher' has a literal meaning. Treatments when caught early have good rate of survival, not as much a hassle as lung cancer anyway- know a woman with lung bits and pieces removed among other other things like intestines about 4 foot, recent gall bladder, ovaries. She can put down on resume a 'teaching assistant' position in medical school-- sounds better than 'lab rat'. Might be able to get medical MJ in some states now- cancer treatments side affects supposed to be a medical need. RN

You will do well, and continue to talk about things that all of us are interested in. As I enjoy your posts

Good Luck to you. I had the Trans Eurethreral Reduction of Prostrate or TERP about 5-6 years ago. The only thing I know it did was a perminant Vasectomy. Still have to go all the time. They never mentioned the big C thing.

First of all I wish good lluck for Mr. 37Chief!!! But personally I am like the poster I quoted above. If I knew I was going to die tonight the guys I have morning coffee with would not get a clue from me beforehand. I am always fine..

Prayers for you!!!!My #2 son (Bob)is about finished with the bag treatment.Neuropathy (SP) is giving him fits with the use of his fingers and feet.Should be a reduction in the problem with the kemo.He is making small short runs trucking and so far all is O.K.I can attest to the fact that neuropathy is the most discouraging illness one can get.Cant hold a fork, knife, open bottles, put on cloths, button holes are a fright.way to darn small,No more music making, shaving is no delight either. There is NO KNOWN CURE,nothing can be done but just to finish life with it.
I'm going to have Bob read all your post.Again sending prayers your way and to all who suffer from any form of illness.I for one HATE PAIN.I have to use painkillers to survive just the daily chores of living, however I"m blessed at age 82 going on 83 comming July 2nd to be able to move around with #1 son's (Victor's) help.Just don't give up.With warmest regards Lou & Victor.
