OT Freihgtliner FL-60

Time to replace the air bags (on the axel) on the FL-60. I have never done this before, but when I order new bags do I measure the diameter and the height of the old bag when there is no air in it, or do I order by make and model. Thanks for your help. Any recommendations on who to order from?

I replaced mine on my FL-112 two years ago. Not a bad job at all. I got mine from Freightliner. They have the line sheet in their system for mine. Told them my name on the phone. Drove down there 40 minutes later and they had them setting out by counter.

On the side of the old bag there is a number around the area of the manufacturer's name. You can use this number to order a new one, if no number you will have go by Vin number or check the other bags.

If you go to Freightliner store I don?t think you could get a oil filter that vin number is all they know. I would call first dealer s don?t keep Mutch inventory any more

A good parts counter man that can pull common parts without a Vin is a rarity eg.filters, brake parts, drive line parts ,etc.

The number on the bag won't help. That's just the number for the bellows and doesn't specify the base and top. You WILL need the last 8 digits of the VIN when asking for parts. They're not hard to change. Unhook the line going to the bag you're replacing, then cap it. Then air up the truck and you won't need to use a jack.

Yep, the number on the actual rubber bag dosn't identify the complete unit.

If he's lucky, once he gets the old one off the paper label with the part number will still be present and legible on the top of the assembly, or sometimes it's stamped in ink directly on the steel.
