IMT tractor

I?m still looking for a tractor with loader, this 542 IMT is for sale about 18 miles from me, owner is asking $2500, also comes with a blade and bush hog, someone else gets to look at it before me in the morning, it will probably sell before I can go see it, owner says everything works but engine does have slight tap to it on top end....
Any thoughts on these tractors, I do know they have the Perkins engines, parts availability????

An IMT was produced under license form Massey Ferguson in Serbia. The company went under in 2015. Many of the parts can be crossed over to MF ones but some are different. Should be worth the $2500 if the engine issue is not a major noise. It could just need the valves adjusted.

IMT was recently bought by TAFE this year, TAFE (in India) also makes Massey Fergusons under license. TAFE also makes their own brand of tractors using the old Massey Ferguson designs (they are the third largest tractor manufacturer in the world). https://www.tafe.com/tractors/tafe/

Used car lot near me sold them or rather had a group of them on his lot to sell back when they were new for a couple years.I never ran one but all of them looked like they had oil on the ground from the leaks under them."Slight" tap would cut how much I'd put in an off brand machine like that big time.

According to Tractordata, they did NOT use Perkins engines. Tafe tractors are also supposed to be a copy of Massey's, but they are not! Yes, some parts will interchange, but some won't. We won't work on them in our shop, due to the parts availability problem.

I had a 560 deluxe. I am sure it had a perkins engine. About like the 165 but heavier. I would recommend that if you cannot buy it cheap leave it alone, as it may be impossible to get your money back in resale.

The FEL on it is probably worth more than the tractor (unless if IMT made the FEL). I found a TAFE tractor in a salvage yard, the radiator, and steering box is now on my MF135. The diesel engine it had was copy of the Perkins ad3.152 except it didn't have Perkins anywhere on it.

Hi Greyrider and others
I sort or inherited a IMT 542 Deluxe and use it a dozen times in summer cutting grass etc. Can you or someone please direct me to where I can get basic parts (Example I need the upper radiator hose coming off the radiator (it is a 1.5" short "S" shaped one)
