Fairbanks Morse FM 0483 Mag-What will it fit?

(quoted from post at 11:39:31 04/21/18) I have a FM 0483 Mag, SN 3176079, for a 4 cyl. But I'm having no luck finding what it will fit. Any one know?

I don't claim to know much about FM mags, but that seems like an odd model number to me.

Do you know what type/style it is? can you post a photo?

I wonder if that model # was a designation by the engine mfg. that used it?

Also, all sort of generic replacement mags were made. might be that sort of thing?

I'm helping my Dad, he's in AZ, I'm in Ct, and he's not good enough with technology to provide photos. Aside from the fact it's a 4 cyl, not sure how to describe it. Maybe I wrote the number the read off the tag wrong. Not important, just curious what we might have.

The link below shows several "FM Models" of Fairbanks Morse magnetos. This isn't going to ID it exactly but maybe you can tell how close the one you have is to one of these just by eyeballing the photo. Just by looking, you can see some significant differences, mounting system for example, might be a bit of a start. I would guess that there are specific model numbers for all of these FM ones, not sure. Can your dad see this on a computer maybe?
FM series magnetos and applications

Isn't amazing how quick things happen today for communication? Not a whole lot of years ago, a postal letter was commonplace, so let's say a few days or so. And then turn the clock back even more and things took forever.

I have an original FM parts repair manual that covers everything back to the RV series mags and do not find anything with that number. Is there an FM x j w b or anything else on the type plate?
