Anybody know what this is, I looked at the extension service weed book but didn't find it. Southeast Arkansas, it's worse in an area I reclaimed from a very overgrown honey locust thicket 5-6 years ago. It's very poorly rooted, comes out by the handful, creeps over the grass. This is a bermuda/Bahia/crab mix hay field. It's kinda gotten ahead of everything else but we had a warm couple days first of the month and then back to cool and the desirable grass stopped growing. Square stem and very fragile.

Thanks in advance.

Well for the life of me I can't seem to include a photo.

With a square stem that would be a mint or if it has little purple flowers that makes it Purple Dead Nettle. Here in SNJ That stuff will be going crazy in a week or two. Asian invasive. You really need to spray it big time.

JLeus, does that last weed stick to things like your socks? I have something like that here. I think the birdfood had some of that seed in it. Its real easy to break. I don't know the name. Ed Will Oliver BC

Take a sample to your state Ag extension office or USDA office. It may be an invasive species that needs to be. eradicated.

I agree with 007. Sticky weed. We pull it by hand in the cranberry fields... or use a wick wiper( hockey stick) and wipe with 10 -15% rounds up.
Doesn't seem to grow where we now regularly.

Lots of that nettle growing now up here inBC too.

Looks a bit like bedstraw to me. There are several different varieties of it. We have tons of the smooth variety and haven't found anything that works real good on getting rid of it.

Looks like bedstraw. Bedstraw grows in a mat on top of the grass and kind of sticks to your pants. Its a winter annual. We have it all over west TN.
