John Deere 410 Baler

A fellow has a J.D. 410 baler for sale and says the floor belt is worn some. If memory serves me correctly, this is a good baler to stay away from because they get pretty hard to start a bale when the floor belt gets worn. Am I right or wrong about it? Keith

If you are right and its a closed throat baler I would say run.

The first round baler that I owned was a JD 510 model. I shall always remember it because it was a true "round baler" in that the first bale that I made with it was truly round. I mean ROUND like a basket ball. I had to remove it from the baler with a set of hay grapples that I was lucky to have. Eventually I did manage to make something resembling a normal round hay bale but it was tricky to use and I cheered when I sold it. Do not even think about baling with it if the hay is even slightly damp.

I've put a few of those table belts in. Nearly impossible to get the cable through. Like trying to push a car up a hill with a rope.

Actually the OEM floor(table) belts were continuous IE no lacings. One must remove one side of floor rollers to R&R OEM floor belts

Even more fun. The Gehls had lacing. They usually came with a wire that had a crimp end on it. You were supposed to feed the wire through then crimp the cable in to it and pull it through with the wire,but more often than not,if you didn't have somebody feeding the cable along pretty good,it would pull out of the crimp.

Zunderage ..... so what you really had was a Spherical Baler .... not a round baler.

we had a JD 500 . in its day , was a very good baler . it made well shaped, tight bales and unlike most people , we had no trouble baling damp hay. we baled 700 to 800 bales every year with it.
