You'd posted about the hockey team bus crash. I looked for more details, but every thing is very limited. Has there been any more word as to cause? Looked like the trucker failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by the bus?

If I may, they reconstructed the dynamics at the scene with a tractor trailer unit and a coach, blocked off the area. Sent black boxes to California for analysis and so far no charges, Gofundme went over 15 mil, will be forming a foundation with it. One of the survivsors was a surprise guest at a hockey game, got a standing O.

The death toll from the accident has climbed to 16, see the link below on the 16th victim. And as someone else stated, the black boxes from the vehicles (not sure if both had them or not) were sent off for analysis. Several of the funerals have already been held of course, still a good number in hospital and some of those in critical condition still I believe. The whole thing up here north of the border has had quite an effect on most everything you hear on the news, etc. The police don't say too much, they have determined that the truck was in the intersection when the collision occurred, a somewhat obvious conclusion I would think.

Meanwhile, unfortunate stuff still happens. Just a few nights ago in Edmonton, a driver ran over and killed a young teenaged girl in a marked cross walk. He left the scene of the accident but was chased down by an off-duty policeman who saw the whole thing. Driver's blood alcohol level was over the limit I believe, he's been charged with a variety of offenses, not sure on what those are. The driver is a local lawyer who has a record of similar incidents with alcohol and driving twice before. Somehow managed to get off both of those charges (like so many manage to do). This time it might be a bit tougher but there always seem to be loopholes.

I believe they were compressed packages of peat moss, I suspect the kind you buy at home building centers and garden centers, etc. I might be wrong but I think I read it was the drivers first run on that road from the peat moss processing plant to wherever he was headed.

As I remember, initial reports said the truck tee boned the bus. Clearly though the truck ran the stop sign and was tee boned by the bus. Sorry to hear that Dayna passed. Sounds like she enjoyed being involved with young athletes.
I lost my younger daughter in a truck car crash. She was rear ended by a trucker who fell asleep at the wheel. Been a long time, but stuff like this brings back memories.
