Greetings all, I'm a frequent reader but have only posted on here a couple of times. Anyway, I'm going tomorrow to look at a White 598 plow and would appreciate any comments.
Also, the parts book shows a "subsoiler attachment" and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I assume that you remove the bottom and put the shank and point on, but I don't really know, so any comments on this would be welcomed also.

I"ve had Melroe plows with AC bottoms, 720 IH, and the White 588 or 598, all resets. By far, the White lays the best furrow over. 720 reset would often hang up on corn stalks when re-entering the ground. If both plows were in the same field I could tell which one plowed where. Repairs were simpler as well.
 
When I worked for a dealer we sold a fair number of those sub soil attachment. If you add a couple of those needless to say they work good, BUT the plow will also pull harder.
 
That White 598 plow is one of the best ever made in my opinion. While I like JD stuff the White/Oliver plow was just hard to beat.
 
You just are not going to find a better plow than a White. Pull easy and do a good job. I have a 2800 JD and I could drag my house through the field easier then pull that thing. I do like the vari-width though.

Make sure you check all the pivot points, as these wear they cause the bottoms to not run true.
