JD and Mansur Question

Folks,

I ran across an option to buy an old horse drawn (Walk behind), single row JD and Mansur corn planter. Everything is intact and in decent shape. Selling for $250. My questions are:

1) Is there any online literature that details the original picture/colors of such a plow or info on model number? (All I can find is that it falls in the 1877-1910 range)

2) I'm looking at doing a possible restoration on it with my kiddos, but don't want to through $250 at it, if it's not worth it.

Any/all help is greatly appreciated. I cross posted pictures in the implement forum. Thanks again!

hawkeye> I buy a lot of them and usually pay around 100 bucks or less. I am attaching a photo of a load I bought last year. Three one row planters and one of them is a JD. Not certain any I have go back before the turn of the century. Don't have any pictures on this computer of the refurbished ones I have done but finished they are usually worth $ 250.00 or so. I had one that you could just barley see the JD writing and took it to sign shop he made a photo and then reproduced the print.

jm,

Thank you so much. Do you have any pictures of the final product after you refurbished you could e-mail or post?
