Hi all

Firstly hope this is in the right place? And apologies for any terms I might have got wrong

I have a fordson dexta that I bought recently and am in the process of getting it ready for work, I have just replaced the RH rear half shaft seal the oil that came out looked fine , so must have been done just befor I bought it, but unfortunately I have no idea what oil it, is or for that matter what I should use.

So my question is would it be safe to top it up? If so what with?

Or should I change it completely? Also what should I use

Many Thanks in advance for any advice you are able to offer

Probably 90wt. Put a drop on your finger and feel. you can tell 90 wt from hydraulic/trans oil. They smell bifferently, too. add accordingly. How full/low is it. It may be just fine.you should order an owner's manual,ASAP.

Definitely not 90W, that will cause hydraulic problems. 20/30W is the correct
grade in gearbox and rear axle. In the dealership we used 20/30W HD right
through the tractor with Fords blessing. Level plug is a square headed plug
near the PTO selector pivot.
