Serial Number Location on D19

I have a 1964 Allis Chalmers Series IV D19 Gas that I had the motor rebuilt 2 years ago. I was in the shop looking for sources of replacement Fenders adn the owner told me what he thought the value of the tractor was. I thought it was high. His reasoning was the he believed this was one of the last 300 made. I would like to validate this with the serial number but am having difficulty understanding the correct location to use. Does any one know which number from the transmission should be used or am I looking in the wrong spot?

This my haying tractor so maybe I need to treat it better. LOL.

Tractordata (which is NOT 100% error-free) says this about the serial number location: "Top side of rear axle, below the seat".

Which do you really have, a D19, or a series IV D17?

I don't know about a D19 specifically, but D series, as well as 100/200 series typically had the number stamped into the front flange of the torque housing, close to the engine.

Never heard of a Series IV D19. And, without digging out my Allis Chalmers book, I thought 1961, 1962, and 1963 were the only year models made.

I have a '61 D19 diesel, and there were some 10,000+ D19's made over a period of 3 years.

I won't say something smells here, but it could be like the Farmall HTA I saw on an auction once.

Here is a thread on that:

Go to the attached link Chris provided. It give you the location and the serial number range/year.

Also to be really valuable it would have to be really close to the end. #00 out would not make much difference. The last 1 or 2 would be worth more.

That info is perfect. Thanks So much. I have bracket with a shock absorber for the seat over the housing. I will need to remove to see the serial #. Once again thanks for your help.
