April 14th in South Central Minnesota

No spring in sight, 10 day forecast shows little improvement...last year I recall mowing the lawn in April !

Man. I can't imagine living up there. We spent a couple hours in the garden and the last few hours weed eating ,for the second time. We enjoyed our 2 snows this year but I don't enjoy the cold for long. But spring is coming. The monarch butterflies are headed north. We have seen a bunch of em this week. Kevin in Central AL.

"Love" the snow. Here is Rochester, MN were are not getting that! Lots of sleet. I like your corn crib in the picture. How long is it? Do you have other pictures of it? Do you still use it for ear corn?

As of a week ago, that storm was predicted to hit us in north central ND. Sunny and WARM here today!

It was sure nice of you guys to have it transferred down south a bit!

(I was in Minneapolis for a blizzard and a snowstorm already this winter, NOT where I like to be in bad weather!)

Farmall 656. My mom has a small corncrib very similar to that one also. Are you looking for such a small building? Just curious I guess. I know the one she has just has has miscellaneous stuff in it. It hasn't seen ear corn for decades. Kow Farmer Kurt

It is about 10 foot or so, I figure it holds only about 100 bushels of cob corn, and yes I still fill it each year. I feed some of it and burn some in my corn burning stove in the shop. Here is a shot from almost the same angle on a much nicer day ! I prop open the access door on the roof and reach over with my elevator to fill it.

For reference , here is a random shot from the same time last year. You can see the green grass and trees in the background. So its not always this miserable!

Guess that goes to show if you want to get away from the snow, you gotta move north. *lol*

We got 2"....Wednesday I think? But it melted away by early afternoon. Now back to the old hard, crusty snow.

Beautiful sunny day today, but a bit breezy.

I plowed a small field for a neighbor this morning and now the rain is supposed to be here in about an hour. Supposed to have rain and a few flurries this next week thru Monday night. I guess we had our summer here in S.E. Ohio yesterday and today 89 yesterday and 87 today before the clouds rolled in. Keith

It's been snowing here all day. There's a good sized drift in front of my garage that will need to be dealt with before even attempting to get to church tomorrow. Not what one would normally expect on April 14.

Just walked to the shop and one drift is knee high and bout a pickup length wide. Gotta go check/feed the critters and I'm not looking forward to it.

sister is down from montrose for a funeral. she is staying at dads . friend of hers just called and told her that 52 is closed at coates . shes headed back tomorrow afternoon hopefully things will be better .

Snowing currently in EV. Had a break in it shortly after dinner. Wind is blowing 15-20 NNE (Bruce?s direction). I would guess if we smoothed the drifts out it would be 2-3?.

I've been in south-central Minnesota (Mankato) for 34 years after spending the earlier part of my life way down south (in northern Iowa). I've never seen a spring like this. Usually I've been busy transplanting lilacs, taking snow throwers off my two Deeres and installing mowers, etc. Now I just sit and watch the birds going nuts at the feeders. I feel bad for the migratory birds such as robins. They don't seem to know how to react; neither does my dog.

80 here today. Planted Indian corn for corn meal this afternoon. Heavy rain coming tomorrow.
Richard in NW SC

Typical Florida spring here other than the rain. Had good rain already this week and more on the way tomorrow and this is usually our driest time of the year. 84 degrees this afternoon. Looks like I'm going to have to start mowing every week sooner than normal

Here in Buffalo mn we have 8" of snow so far and more coming. Western mn have some areas that have 19" and more coming.
In my 67 years this is just about the heavy and hardest i've have ever seen it snow.
Brian

Like that here too, Bruce. Gotta bring 2 kids to Pearson airport tomorrow afternoon, not looking forward to that drive!

Yea. Been a little windy here for 30 hours or so. Not really letting up much.

Snow is somewhere between ground covered to 4 foot drifts. The drifts are mostly in the yard where I would need to drive some day.

Getting some visibility back, but the wind is still moving a lot along the ground, can't see anything opened up staying open.

Yes - a bit snowy and windy in NE WI as well.
Wife snapped this as i moved some snow - luckily, it rained a buch, then sleeted, then snowed, so the ground is soft. Makes it SO much better, lol.

Pleasant and 80 in W SC. We have had a cool spring, not cold, but too cool to get an early start on gardens.

Saw a news report about a Nebraska blizzard on I 80 where the highway patrol had to rescue 100 motorists.

flying belgian,

You know you have to do that again tomorrow too. :)

Great pic - we have to laugh... or otherwise we'd cry. LOL

Reports of the SW MN winter from our student in New Ulm have been repetitious. This April blizzard doesn't help, good thing the folks around there are hardy souls!
