What is a difference between a Timken rrb 2 bearing and rrb3 bearing thanks

I was told that had to do with the number of times the bearing has been revised. They may change a spec from a different application.

I think you are correct. The RRB designates a set screw based self locking extended ring deep groove bearing, with seals. It can be specified in many shaft and mount configurations. The number extension is not mentioned in charts and application listings. Jim

Looks to me like the backside of the inner race is extened as the main difference. If you have room for that and need the extra surface area would interchange for use . The price is the other main difference.
