That is why when the wife used to ask when I'd be home I'd say the job should take "x" amount of time but you should always at least double it before you start to get worried to allow for the unknown.

Yep, that goes along with the 'why, when I have 6 bolts to loosen, the last breaks'? Really, I've had this happen with water pumps, mainly, loosening the hard to get to ones and leaving the easily accessible till last. Is 'Murphy's Law' involved? There's a Murphy gas station in my area...
