Progress on wood hauler moving along well

I got the hinge system all fabed up today along with the drop down hitch on the tongue of the chassis The axel was high on this old IH running gear that I narrowed up and fitted to this body that I built. I had contemplated cutting a notch and bending the pole down just in front of the body, but this drop down on the end of the pole made more sense, and likely stronger.
Tomorrow I will fab up the hybrid 12V winch and cable hoist system to raise the body.
Pretty much down to details and finish welds on the chassis now.

Looking good. I've been shop bound up north here today. I put the multi power transmission put back together and bolted to the back half.

Nice work! How about adding hitches on the back of the trailers, then you could pull a "train" to the woods and stay busy all day-- unless you work like Larry and the huge stack he did in one day lol!

I am planning on a hitch on this one to pull it's twin. The only problem is that I want the hitch to be attached to the chassis and not the body. Likely an A frame with hinge pins to the chassis. This means that the hitch will have to pivot up and down and be supported vertically by the body with some sort of vertical linkage, perhaps just a chain, so the body can dump, and be able to support the tongue weight of the second trailer.

Looks good so far Loren! You will be able to get a years supply of wood just in your trailers.

A lot of cutting and fitting, you are doing a great job. I like to see used metal being used. If I didn't have my iron pile I would be paying a lot for new iron. Stan

Why not a tongue that can be slid out for dumping and then slid back in Much less work to fab up. The pin to hold it could be on a spring with a rope to be pulled formm the back or side. Could also use a telescoping latch off a wagon tongue for that with similar release method.

Nice job!!! A small suggestion: for your permanent setup you might want to flip the hinge bolts end for end to avoid a heavy shear load across the threaded potion of the bolts.
