This looks like a very large tractor to me. Of course, I compare all tractors to my Massey F40 so everything ends up looking big by comparison. Going on the block tomorrow, will see what it fetches. Same sale, very original looking Harry Ferguson and a blue tractor, forget the name. Not a Ford. I'll

That IH 806 has been described as the best tractor IH ever made. That was is very durable engine. They usually bring a really good price. Where's the sale?

(quoted from post at 18:12:44 03/16/18) with your description of blue, and not ford I would guess its an eclipse ,, lol

Hahaha ja just saw the Eclipse peeking around the IH. The bigger tractor almost eclipsed it lol

It was the biggest row crop made when it was new.

You do not consider the 1206 a row crop tractor. Even came with a narrow front end.

The 806 was in production for several years before the 1206 became available.

In the horsepower race going on in the 1960's few tractors held any sort of "most powerful" status for very long before being surpassed by something else.

Not until it was re-tested in 1965. Both the 806 and 4020 were tested in 1963 and at that time the 806 came out a few horsepower ahead.

Not really, 1963 806-D 94.93 pto hp, 4020-D 91.17 pto hp. in 1966, increased hp 4020 gasoline was 95.56 hp, .63 hp greater until 100.5 pto hp 856 -D was released in 1967. A over 95 hp 4020-D never tested until 1969. I bet it's REAL hard to tell .63 pto hp thru the seat of your pants. The D-361 IH engine was one of the top 2 or 3 best engines IH ever built.

All per TractorData.Com like you posted the link too. Straight from the Nebraska test reports.

Were the early tests on 4020's equipped with PowerShift transmissions and the 1966 tests with SyncroRange transmissions?

The mighty Allis Chalmers D21 beat them all at 103.06 pto hp!

The 4020 was little more pto but the 806 was a little more drawbar horsepower yet the 4020 had a little bit more drawbar max pull the 806 was tested in 3rd low ta the 4020 was in second gear so my guess is there wasn't much difference in the two when it comes down to running in the field. And either tractor will likely still be running in another 50 years compared to the plastic disposable tractors made today

Yes they tested synchro and powershift and the test details are on the site . they also tested gas l.p. gas and diesel engines

(quoted from post at 18:49:34 03/17/18) Redmf40 - do you know the owner? I could not get to the sale
today. Would you have his phone number?

No, sorry. I'd suggest contacting the auction house, ask for Roy. He deals with the tractors, may be able to help you.
