Loader filter

I have a loader that originally had a filter that looked like a ball of yarn it is on the suction line at the reservoir. It is a pto driven pump. The filter is no longer available. it would be eay enough to buy an aftermarket spin on filter assembly. Those are made for going in the return line. This loader has no return line the valve is mounted to the reservoir. The question is will the pump be able to suck the fluid through the filter fast enough or will this cause cavitation and performance problems.

Typically, suction filters are not actually a filter, but a fine mesh strainer at the end of the suction pipe, inside the tank below the oil level.

If you can access the inside of the tank, that would be a better option.

I've never seen a spin on used as a suction filter.

Other option would be to relocate the valve, add an adapter plate and plumb in a return filter.

In most systems that could be possible but not here. the frame of the loader is the tank and the valve is made to be a part of the tank. It is very unique. I found this one that is made to be in the suction line and at 15 gal a minute it should work at least in theory.

Page 89 current SUPRULS CENTER catalog or go to www.surpluscenter,com . Can get a suction filter for 3/4 line , 1 1/4 , or 1 1/2 should be able to make something work .

thanks they have a lot more selection then others I found. My thinking is to get the highest flow and largest micron that should still give me some filtering without restricting to much. They have a 25gpm with a 141 micron filter.

One good thing about those old filters, they absorbed and held moisture to prevent rust in the system.

Got any numbers to search the 'net for a NOS one?
