These are in the big fancy home I've been
working in on and off this winter. The new
lights came in so I was out to install them.
The first one is solid brass so I had to wear
gloves to keep from leaving finger prints. It
hangs over the dining room table.
The second one is stainless and hangs over the
breakfast nook in the kitchen.
The round one is 42" in diameter and hangs in
the vaulted foyer - also brass so must wear
gloves. They all weigh about 80 lbs each.
I had to install blocking in the trusses up in
the attic to carry the weight.
The vaulted foyer is 16' up to the peak so I
had to scaffold up to hang it.
The last photo shows lifting the DR light up
with a sheetrock lift.
They had two electrical companies out there to
give bids to hang them. One quoted $3K the
other wouldnt do it.
I hired a laborer to help me. We got them up
for about $1.3K
It took a bit of thinking to get them hung.
Homeowner says there's a bonus for me for doing
it. I didn't want to know what they cost. Would
have made me more nervous than I was.
It was an interesting job.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess... The one with all the knife blades looks cool if it was on the set of the tv show Vikings. The other 2 are just ugly. But hey, rich people keep you employed, so more power to em!

If I could get that kind of money to hang them, I would come out of retirement!!!
I mounted a HF 120V winch in my trusses with suitable reinforcement to the trusses, to raise a dumbwaiter from my cellar to the main floor. It holds about 600# of firewood. The whole thing all finished and trimmed out took me about 2 days to complete. That included building a vertical trolley utilizing overhead door track and rollers.

Ultradog MN- I like them. It looks like ypu did a great job on the install. Ya gotta have the backing to hold that weight.

Very pretty work.

Nice work.

Though not my style, they are interesting looking - but I sure would not want to have to dust/clean those puppies.

(quoted from post at 15:33:08 03/12/18) How do they keep the cobwebs out of those?

Same as how they change the bulbs. This fellow that I know who has similar lights told me that they lower electrically.

Working for rich people on their high priced house.Looks like an excellent example of Trickle Down Economics to me.Another good example is the rich folks around me that
let me cut the hay off their land for free.Regular folks getting the benefit of people getting rich and then spreading the wealth around. There is a fellow I went to high school
with Jim Murray, that formed some internet company and sold it for Million$ built a house in the area that reportedly cost 20+Million$ that's even a big sum for this area somewhere around
50,000 square ft I heard, employed well over a hundred workers doing various things.Trickle Down at work.

Sure glad you clarified the location of such. I was "fixin" to abandon you as a "good-old-boy" with that kind of stuff hanging in YOUR house. Grin

Super nice!

I'm building a light fixture for a fancy house. ~12 feet long and ~320 lbs. Supported off a 4 foot diameter "pedestal" from the floor. No visible welds allowed. Will be finished and painted as nice as a luxury car. The things an architect will come up with when money is no object...
