Quick connect heater hose

I hate the new quick connect heater hose connectors. I have never been able to remove one without destroying it, even with the appropriate tools.

My question is, if I replace these connectors with a conventional clamp, will the hose slip off as there isn't a flair at the end of the fitting I connect to?

By the way, it is on a 2000 2500 Suburban (same as the Silverado).
 
I've never tried replacing it with a clamp.

But best I remember there is a bead for the quick connect to grab onto. If you could get the hose beyond that, it should hold.

I've always just gone back with what was on there, I hate them, but wasn't worth the risk of having a leak.
 
I did...replaced heater core in my 2000 f250 I cut hose off engine side of connectors took out core and replaced used regular heater hose and clamps... made it really simple.. no leaks..
 
I'm not so certain. Every time I have removed one of those quick connects, they are so brittle they snap.
 
Yes, I have replaced the factory quick connect with a barb and clamp.(more than one)

THE SAME HERE... I heat up a old screwdriver red hot and melt the lock tab's.

Dunno I always go back with a genuine OEM GM hose and don't worry about it for another 15 years... BTW aftermarket hoses for them are just plain JUNK!

I think you can buy just the quick locks slip them on and clamp a hose to them.. I don't do that type of chitty work YMMV...
