Sunday Skid Steer Update

First pic is the machine I am decommissioning. It was kind of hard to drive a machine into the barn that I've had for 20 plus years and dismantle it.

We haven't had the best weather for blasting and painting, but I did get some more parts cleaned up. Hopefully I will get some paint on this week.

I'm using the engine, boom, cage, and misc parts from the old one. I've been picking the best parts between the two. I will probably spend a chunk of change on hydraulic hoses this week. If they look sketchy, I'm replacing them. There are very few hoses that would be easy to change after the fact.. I resealed all the cylinders and am fixing any other issues I can find as I go along.

Hopefully in a couple more weeks I'll have a running machine again.

it always seems to take longer than we estimated jeff!! when you get into them doing an overhaul or a winter work over like i'm doing to the m5, you get into it and oh dang I didn't see that, I better get that fixed to, dang that hose is worn just about right through! and on it go's  our 3 week or 2 month estimate is now 3 months or more. if it's not weather, it's work, or it's the wrong parts, if it wasn't so much fun we wouldn't do it

Jeff,
I own a 960 Mustang loader. She has a great deal of power. I purchased at an auction with no maintenance manual. Would you know where on line to get one, or other option?
Thanks,
Mark

There's not much free info online for the Mustang loaders. There are a lot of manuals on eBay. There is a guy selling reprints of the 940/960 service manuals for around $40.

I bought a parts manual for my "new" 940 from the dealer as this one has a lot of updates from my original machine. I think it was around $40 also. Parts book for my 2060 was around $40 too. These new books aren't actually books though. They are a stack of paper punched for a 3 ring binder. I suppose that is because they are older machines and there isn't much call for new literature.

If you end up buying used, just make sure the manuals are new enough to cover your machine. There were probably some updates in the 960's along the way too.

I hear ya.... This one got sidetracked a few years back. We did an addition/remodel that took about three years. It will definitely be weird when I get the corner of my shop back.
