Ford 1600 for sale at auction

There is a Ford 1600 for sale at an auction near me (northeastern Utah) this month. Are they any good? It's made in Japan. Who
actually made it? It runs but has to be pull started as the starter is burned out. The front tires are almost new, the rears are about
30% left. It's a 2wd with a 2 cylinder diesel engine. It has a front end loader on it. What would be a fair price? Thanks.

Shibura built the small fords . Parts were getting harder to get in 03 but they might be better now a starter you can probably get from eBay

In the condition you describe that tractor should bring between 1000 - 1500 at auction mainly because it has a loader, it?s not worth much with poor rear tires and no starter.

20-25 years ago a friend got a killer deal on one a little smaller. It needed a major component for the steering. He was never able to get it and after a few years he sold it for scrap.

Nice tractors, but as others mention, parts can be tough to find, and those size tractors are about helpless with a ladder and no 4wd.

That tractor's pushin 40 years. I've had 3 Ford-Shibaura and they are great tractors. All bought new. IMO they were the best import at the time. The one still here was bought in 1998.But on the down side the parts may or may not be out there. Good Luck it your decision.

Those Shibarua (sp?) imports were well respected, but parts availability dropped off some years ago, and that is one of the oldest models. Between the lack of parts, having a loader on a 2wd, no power steering, and knowing it needs (at least) a starter, I would not bother to bid, myself.
If you're curious about parts availability, go to New Holland's parts website and put 1600 in the model search.

As others have said.. not too bad of a tractor.. but... they over sold them, and the parts supply was under estimated.... Lots of them sit idle because of no replacement parts...

If it starts and runs buy pulling it and you can drive it and see how everything operates it would make the tractor worth more

Thanks to everyone who commented. I won't bid over $1,000. I have bad hips and have a hard time getting on any tractor. I had to make a different step for my 3000. I got on the 1600 with a bit of difficulty. It was even harder to get off. If I move the left fender back a few inches it would be a lot easier.
I mostly go to the auction to see people I haven't seen since the last auction. Some years the only thing I buy is a hamburger (sandburger if the wind is blowing). This year I plan to sell an old Case thresher. It's a 47 x 28 and is in bad shape. Probably not worth restoring and there is very little interest in them around here. Thanks.

Well Arvin, you won't have to worry about being out bid, LOL.
