Look what followed me home

A Woods 1050 backhoe. Was from the estate of wife's uncle. Went to her sister. She was no longer using it so she forwarded it
to us. So staying in the family, so to speak. Son and I put on about 400 miles to get it, but the price was right. Uncle had it
on his tractor, we have the same model, so should hitch right up. It looks in very good shape, usage probably in the hundreds of
hours. Spent most of it's time sitting in the shed. Going to change out the fluid, and filter, and as soon's the frost gets out,
I got some holes to dig. I probably won't put that many hours on it, but far more than I want to shovel by hand! Don't want to
spend the money for another machine, so this one comes at the right time!

Looks like you and Royse have been to the same place. He emailed me a picture of what he's bringing home from Ohio today.

If you need help unloading that by the way, come on down and I'll set it off right here in my yard.

Dad and grandpa bought one of those and put it on a 585 case IH. Not really a heavy enough tractor.... If you run RPM enough to have some ummph.... The top link bracket on tractor would break.... Good enough to fix tile breaks, but I bought a 580K 4x4 extendahoe this spring with having that 3pt hoe in the barn... And for good reason.

Donno where Royse went, we went to East Tawas. Loading it was a bit of a challenge. Had a fairly substantial tractor with a FEL, but could barely lift it. Was in the back of a shed and we had to drag it out sideways to get through the door. Then when we got outside, tractor was having traction issues on the snow and ice and all the weight up front. Took us two hours and two tractors to get it on the trailer. Unloaded it this morning. Some jacking and judicious use of some planks, and it slid off with the help of a Farmall 200. Didn't even take the back blade off. But then we had the advantage of almost bare ground.

Uncle Paul had it on a MF180, and it will be used here with another MF180. Tractor probably heavy enough. Have a full set of suitcase weights up front.. Will be using it gently, as it isn't designed to be used beside a commercial construction grade unit.
Ran it a bit years ago. Have to run tractor at an idle, or thing is too fast to run easily. But, carefully used, I can save a lot of manual shoveling!

I have seen a lot of good tractors really screwed up with a 3Pt hitch Back hoe. I have welded more than one top link mounting and have replaced at least one busted rear housing. They beat the dickens out of everything. Would not put it on one of mine, but that's your choice.

I have the same backhoe mounted on a 6410 White with FEL. It's not a " real" TLB, but it's a whole lot better than a shovel.

You might look into a subframe for it. I have a Woods that I mount on my Kubota with a subframe. It attaches to a bracket in the rear that attaches at four points and at midway to a bracket that stays permanently mounted to the tractor. there is also a top link attachment but it takes very little strain. It takes me 25-35 minutes to mount or dismount.

I'd like to find a little back hoe too, but I don't have a tractor
big enough to run that one. My Ford 3000s are about it.

Here's a pic of the little forklift. 1946 with a Ford industrial
flat head four engine. Very similar to an N series tractor engine.
3000 pound capacity, single stage mast, weighs 5600 pounds.
No side shift, but it should still come in handy around here.
Side covers are in the back of the truck.
