back in the 50's i remember my grandfather had a four wheel steer wagon on his farm near Robesonia Pa. are they still around or was that a flash in the pan.
thanks.

I have not seen the idea mentioned recently. The auto steer (with steering linkage to each wheel, not 5th wheel style) is complex and provides modest advantage going close to fixed obstacles. Backing one is real nasty. Some luggage carts used at airports are 4 wheel steer (usually 5th wheel type) to allow a long train of carts to follow a single path of tire paths. Jim

Your Grand Father's wagons might have been old WWII airport carriages made into wagons.

The only modern all wheel steer wagons I know of are the longer combine header wagons. Many of them now steer all four wheels so you can get a 40 foot header in a normal size gate off a narrower road.

That is an interesting concept and would work. There are 4 wheel steer garden tractors that are pretty neat. Can make VERY tight turns. Only thing with a wagon is if that linkage gets bent or damaged. Then the tracking would be off. The other thing is if the tie rod ends get loose. Now you really have fun. Goid idea though.

There?s a few companies in Ontario that make smaller versions like 4x8 and 5x10, seemed more aimed at guys with estate tractors rather than farmers.

Aside from being a pain to back, if you get one alongside a building, etc. where you cannot go straight ahead, you are screwed. As the front turns away, the rear turns into it.
