Ford Serial number meaning

This is the number stamped on the bell housing next to the starter.The tag on the hood is gone.Can someone tell me what these numbers mean ?

8C10B is a date code

C566717 is the serial number

There should be another number which would be the model number needed to identify the tractor.

In addition to what mhb said, a serial number beginning with 'C' means a U.S. built tractor. 8C10B would be 1968, 1978, or 1988,
March 10, 2nd shift. If we know the model, we'll be able to figure out the year. Just as a guess from the serial number, I'd say
1978.

It's a 1978 model so it's the X600 series (2600,3600,4600, etc)
Built in the US
built on March 10,1978 second shift
there is a line of numbers right above the ones you listed, usually a bit up
on the edge of the flat boss that will identify exactly what the model is
