Originally made for their lawnmowers, but will help provide full voltage to anything

John Deere Starting Improvement Relay Kit - part number AM107421

The relay fix just supplies full battery power to the starter solenoid that's on the starter, rather than routing it from the key switch, through all of the safety switches, and then to the trigger side of the starter solenoid. The safety switches are still in the loop as the power to the new relay still goes through them.

The draw on the new relay isn't what powers the starter. It only adds another loop to the power that goes to the solenoid. There's very little amperage involved.
heres what ya get in the kit

I put one of these relay kits on my John Deere STX38 lawn mower and it worked. I was getting a clicking noise, too.

I have no experience with it on a tractor.

Why didn't I think of that. I'm adding it to my JD 185 mower that sometimes has a start problem.
10 bucks for the relay and socket vs 40 to JD for adding the terminals.

I had a similar problem on my F-2000 Kubota. I to replace the starter and solenoid to no avail. jm on this site instructed me to add a second solenoid powered by the ignition switch to provide battery power to the original solenoid (this bypasses all the safety features which were reducing power to the original solenoid). I did this and haven't had a problem in 2 years with the same battery. Now I have a spare starter I will probably never use.
