Wheels on John Deere 530

Hey Everyone,
I am in the process of rebuilding a John Deere 530. Several of you answered some questions for me over the last few months that I really appreciate. I am not remounting the tires/wheels and have 2 questions on mounting the rim or center weight to the actual tire or tire rim. I know I need to tighten the 8 bolts uniformly meaning I should tighten in a crosswise pattern to be sure they are pulled uniformly. I did that but it still seems like the center rim or weight is 1/8" off in places so not sure if that is uniform enough or not. I am just measuring the distance from the center rim is from the grove on the tire rim.

also, how tight should I get these 8 bolts? is 150lbs torque enough?

Ok for a slow moveing farm tractor.If you still aren't happy,you can work it a bit to get it closer. 150 should be enough. I just take my impact and rattle them TIGHT.

I broke one of those rim clamps - I didn't think I had tightened it "that much" but I guess I did.

I like to bring them all up a little at a time. Obviously not an expert, (see the previous sentence) but it looks like you could egg shape the rim pretty easily.

They usually are not going to run true. I can't remember if there is a torque spec. on them or not ? But make sure you tighten them and then run it some and keep rechecking them. Same with the center bolts. Once tight you will not gain any more on them.

You can make them run straight,,To start with wire wheel your clamps clean,,along with the bolts,,(use new bolts and nuts if you can) start your bolts even (like with a full nut),,give them a few turns each in a cris-cross pattern,,as they get firm lay a block of wood down beside the wheel and rotate the wheel to see how straight it is,,I use a tire crayon and let it rub where it is too close,, then tighten the one where the crayon did not rub a bit more,,every now and then as you tighten hit the clamps with a hammer to let then work into place,,this method will let you get the straight.

I usually jack the side I'm working on and use a block along the side to adjust the clamps to where they are even. That way, I can turn the wheel by hand to see where I need to still tweak.....

1/8” wobble is a pittance. I wouldn’t worry about it.
