1961 Ford 801 Tractor Problem

I am having trouble with this tractor customer came to me asking for a Timing hole plug but after hours of searching I can't find a plug and from any of the video's I watch it doesn't seem to have one. some of the 8N and Jubilee's have a plate to cover it with a bolt holding it down but I have yet to find any rubber plug like what my customer is asking for. My first thought is why not use a freeze plug the correct size of the hole but then got to thinking he is complaining of oil coming out of that hole. I have yet to see this Tractor in person but I don't believe hydraulic Fluid or any fluid should be coming out of that hole.

Is it possible he's looking for one of the little rubber plugs that close off the holes in the RH side of the block used at the factory to drill the cam bearing oil galleries?

They are shown as Key# 43 or 44 (depending upon serial number) in the diagram at THIS link...

If oil is coming out of that hole good chance the cotter pin weep hole in the under side of the bell house is clogged up and need to be cleaned so oil and water can drain out like it should

On the diagram you have it is the hole to the left on key # 16 the plate That is where he is claiming oil is coming out of.

Yea sealing that hole isn't going to make the problem go away, seal is leaking somewhere and that isn't the place to be holding oil in.

The cotter pin on the fords was put in the it had rear main leak or transmission seal leak In theory the cotter pin would wiggle so as to keep the hole open but it can only do that so long before it gets clogged up and stops letting the oil drip out

Old is referring to a hole in the bottom of the bell housing. You or your customer need to find this hole and clean it out so that the oil can drain out. However, the real problem is that either the engine rear main seal or the transmission input shaft seal is leaking. Either one require a split between the motor and bell housing to repair.

Or someone gets annoyed with the leak and stuffs the hole with sealant.

Out of sight, out of mind, can't be a problem then!

Don't know why the parts catalog left it out but the timing window cover is the same teardrop sheet metal cover as the earlier ford's.

(quoted from post at 09:14:36 02/06/18) even if it supposedly has a wet clutch.

You titled you post 1961 Ford 801. Any one can say that it has a wet clutch but sayin' it won't make it so. At this point it is dry, and the edge of the clutch housing is flinging the oil, and some is trickling out of the timing inspection hole. Before long the level will be up to where the clutch WILL be wet, and then the tractor will not move.
