Can the 436 engine in a hydro 100 or 186 have a turbo put on it without damage to the engine. Will only be used for pto work so it should'nt cause damage to the hydro. Is that correct. I know the 436 has a turbo in other IH tractors. Do those have heavier duty internal parts?

There are a lot of turbos put on those tractors. Most all seem well satisfied. There are several differences in the engine. No oil jet under pistons, different piston and rings, different head, different injection nozzles, different impeller on water pump and different air filter.

Yes you can turbo it.And yes you can plow/farm with a hydro....A neighbor plowed with one for years with no issues. Right beside a 4430 to boot. The 4430 was traded off. The H100 stayed and plowed some more.Another 'neighbor' had a 1026 that worked ground right beside a 1466 too.In the winter the 1466 got parked. The 1026 worked all winter on a loader and feed wagon.

Of course if you put a turbo on a tired engine, started plowing with a tired hydro and ended up with $15,000 in repairs, you'd be singing a different tune.

You pays your money, and you takes your chances... Risk management.
