ford tractor ???.s

new clutch going in today dont have a pilot tool it didnt come with kit any ideas on something i can use for put it in place. Also looking for torque spect's for the clutch bolts . Tractor is a 6700 / All most have the 5000 put back together found a bearing going bad all new ones put in it / crank is ok needed a little sanding .Found out oil pump took a crap, the roll pin going threw the gear was gone leaving it spin on the shaft i guess we got luckey on that one.

You can usually use a half inch deep well socket as an alignment tool. Find one where the necked down part will fit pretty closely in the pilot bearing. You can wrap it with electrical tape to snug it up. On the bigger end, find something that will slip snugly over the socket, you can also snug up that piece with electrical tape as well if need be. Doesn't have to be perfect, just close. Depending on the size, I have used a smaller straight 3/8 deep well socket with a half inch deep well slipped over it. Keep in mind, impact and regular sockets vary quite a bit in size, just have to keep trying different sizes of each until you get the right OD you need.

Most parts tore sell or rent a universal clutch aliment tool and the yare only around $15-20. A tool well worth owning and I have had the one I have for decades

I too have used sockets that fit snug in pilot bearing and usually a 6 inch extension. Center the extension by eye or use some bushings to shim out to the clutch.

Rboots is right, it doesn't have to be perfect, just close.

I can usually center one by 'eyeball'. A socket;a broomstick wrapped with tape are homemade solutions. I've never 'torqued' clutch bolts. Just good and snug. Tighten in stages ,side to side.If it makes you feel better, put some green Loctite on the bolts.

Why not slide the whole clutch set up on the shaft then put the bolts in after it is slid together. I do that all the time if there is room to start and turn the bolts. Only have to get the shaft in the pilot bearing that way. Yes I have alignment tools. Try going through a double disk clutch just a hair off and no go.
