Am looking at making a purchase from Rural King, there are not any dealers close by and wondering what all you good people have to say about dealing with them? I am in south Louisiana and they are not local here. Are they good people to deal with and trustworthy? I am looking at buying an Earthway model 1001b garden seeder and not used to buying online. Seems their prices are about half of what they are asking for them down here. If you can, share your experience dealing with them. Thanks. Mike.

We have a RK here and retail wise they are good. No idea on online orders.

Looks like a darn good price even without free shipping too.

I would not hesitate, but then I have the local store here to beat on if something goes wrong.

Mike. The Rural Kings stores in western KY have a good reputation of being user friendly. I have never done anything on line with RK. My local store is very close and often I am called by name. Good Shopping. Don

Absolutely top notch folks, if you have any trouble no problem getting it resolved, I have know one of the founders since they started but have grown to be a big outfit.

Every time we went to Owensboro, KY to visit friends, we went to Rural King. Always great shopping there and the staff was always helpful.
Don't think you will be disappointed.

Have bought a lot from Rural King, mostly through their stores, some online.

Never had a problem until now.

You know, I just deleted this big long diatribe I was gonna post here, I've always had good luck with RK before .

I'm sure we will get the issue resolved eventually , but right now it's highly annoying that I haven't gotten any response to my emails for a couple weeks.

Guess I'll have to call, which never puts me in a good mood (all our customer service representatives are busy, please hold).

This all started right before Christmas, I'm sure some temp holiday help boogered it up to start with, but gee whiz, should have been able to get it resolved by now.

Fred (who will still deal with RK at least at the stores cause their oil and batteries are priced cheaper than anybody else)

Get the store's phone number off their website and call them and talk to them. No need to order online and give out your credit card number online.

Wanted a 3 pt hitch gooseneck hitch for tractor, local Rural King did not stock it, could get it, + $40 shipping. Checked Rural King on line, same price as store, but had a deal if over $100, free shipping to my door..... I purchased on line, good service. Good luck.

Do not know if all RK stores have the same policy, but the store will not order what is on the RK website.

If you order from RK website, you can pick it up at some RK stores but not all stores.

And the stores will not sell you the exact same thing for the online price either.

I keep getting ads from their online site. Had a "rough" brush clearing job and decided to buy a chainsaw from their website, it was an excellent price. I thought the saw could almost be "a throwaway" if there'd be a problem. I was pleasantly surprised with the saw. Got the rough job done, then while using it in the woods I lost the bar oiler cap, it didn't have a tether. I emailed their online site. The response was they have no parts available, go to the nearest store which I did. No help there, though they have the same saws on the shelf. They said order the cap online. Couldn't find the exact one I needed. Finally ordered one from the manufacturer, it wasn't an exact fit but works after I used a triangular file on the cap's threads. In summary you'll probably be fine ordering online, but service after the sale is in question.

i shop at rural king by me a lot. know the ladies that work there really well, and often get a free hug!!!! (acourse i apply a lot of handsome cream in the morning!!lol)

I bought some brush hog blades from them online a couple years ago. We're the exact same thing that were at the local tsc, but a lot cheaper.

I ordered some Stanley exhaust components through Rural King. They were shipped directly from Stanley. Very competitive price. I would have preferred to order from YT or Steiner, but neither carry the pipe I needed.

Looking at the seeder you need, it looks like it ships from their warehouse rather than from the manufacturer. For 90 bucks and free shipping, I'd say you're not going out on a limb to order it from RK.

Rural King is based in Mattoon, IL. It was founded here in 1960. The Melvin family own Rural King. They are also a very large farming family. I believe they go the extra mile in making sure the customer is pleased. They have over 100 stores now.

How can it be owned by the Melvin family ? When you look it up it comes up the original and present owner is the Jones family.
