We had the Holstein classifier in today (for non
dairy guys he/she comes in and views the cows you
present to them and they give a point score based
on what percent they are to being a match to the
current true type model). We've had a few very
good (85pt) first calvers over the years ,second
classification and by that time 3yrs old,but today
marked our first vg 2 yr old and home grown at that.

great feeling, congratulations! the classifiers we have had here were pretty begrudging to score a 2 yr old over 83 or 84. i know how special a cow it takes to get an 85 score. who is her sire?

Had a 2 year old heifers once the classifier said would go excellent as she matured into a 3 year old......but do you think I could get her in calf again?
Good luck with yours!
Ben

Lol yup I know ,thankfully she's already bred back, could drop dead tonight but she looked great this afternoon lol.

Thank you! She's sired by a barn bull we bought from Gillette Farms a few years back,Cleroli Buffon,he was a Topside son x a 87pt 2yr old Planet daughter than a Goldwyn from PR Barbie at Regancrest.

Thank you! We've been scoring regularly for close to 30 years now, this ones my kind of heifer, just a nice medium size quiet silky hided and to date hasn't been any trouble.

Congratulations. I commend you for your work to keep the classification up.
The family that I worked for had at one time registered and classified the herd. They had a young registered bull that they didn't think was up to par so they shipped him. Prior to that he had got into a pen of heifers and bred one. That offspring was the only "very good" they raised.

Wow lol that's a tough break. We had a Broker son 20 some years ago. His dam was an EX 2E Sir Christopher. Was a great show cow in her day and a heck of a brood cow. The bull scored VG when he was 2 or 3. Gave us 25 heifers,ALL of them were lazy dogs. Didn't matter how good the mother was his daughters were ugly crooked legged frail animals that did not milk. He got out and bred a heifer of our neighbours once though and didn't she make a nice VG 3 yr old lol
