alluminum transmission plate

Moonlight's answer is for the raw material at 1/2" thick. Machining and drilling would be Zero if you do it and have the tools. I imagine 200 in machining and design layout minimum to get it to the point of usability. Jim

Maybe I'm the only one here that doesn't know what an "aluminum transmission plate" is? Sounds like a generic description of something else, maybe an inspection plate or maybe an adapter plate of some sort? Also curious as to what sort of vehicle it's from.

A tractor that from the factory that weights 6475 can pull in the 6000 pound category if the owner: removes all but 2 gears from the trans, takes off the generator, uses a small battery, takes off the PTO/belt pulley, replaces the stock drawbar, and to get the 30 last pounds swaps out the deck plate that weighs 145 with one that weighs 60% as much. Particularly when running for a 12 dollar trophy. Jim

The reason Jim mentioned is one answer. Another is the cast deck or any other stock part that is removed or altered to lighten the tractor can then be replaced with a moveable weight. So now the operator has the choice of where he can place that weight to optimize traction while pulling. I?m not a puller but l think in some classes or sanctions there are rules that dictate the locations moveable weight can be placed.
