My bank has been charging a maintenance fee on my businesses checking for a year are more I complained but got no satisfaction.
In September they started charging a maintenance fee on my personal account $30  Its time for a trip to the bank and close my personal accounts I found out they offer FREE senior checking so we got the personal resolved. In the process I found they offer free business checking  I had a elite gold account some'N to do with Elite 500 a 200 account was free as long as you don't go over 200 transactions a month...

My tip See what they offer you as a senior... Have them print you out a Personal Service Pricing Guide that shows all the options and charges for all services.

There's plenty of competition out there, and you shouldn't be paying a monthly fee on either a business or personal account. If they won't come around, shop around.

Friend of mine got an actual cash rebate when the bank realised that he reached senior age, this after he informed them of course.

Hobo check to see if are eligible.to join the state employees credit union.
Been a member for a long time and always good service. Bering the relative

They charged me a fee for a short time, but then one of the tellers told me that the charge in question was for automatic bill pay. If I didn't have any auto payments going to pay things like the phone bill, electric bill etc,I didn't need to be paying it.

One of my sister in laws has money.....she had problems with her bank and when the bank didn't comply she just changed banks.....talking a couple of accounts in the 7 figures range that went straight across the street to a competing bank that was more than willing to accommodate her.

I have a friend who about 40 years ago had a "discussion" with his bank that didn't go well. He went down the street and opened his own bank. His words, "It's easier than you would think." Today his bank has several branches in several cities. I always ask myself how do you get from here to there.

I had a problem with charges about 15 years ago. They had all kinds of reasons why they charged me but no resolution to refund. So I showed up at the bank unannounced, closed my accounts and
demanded cash. They kept telling me that i should take a cashiers check. But I still demanded cash. That took them awhile. Guess it takes a while to count it out. Never will go back to that bank ever
again. BTW That chain has been on national news for over charging.

I bank at the outfit that has a stagecoach. I have NEVER paid a maintenance fee unless you count the $25.00 yearly fee to have a 'Master Charge' card in the late 60's.(that got dropped when 'Visa' came along-competition) Been with them 50 years this year. I don't pay for a safe deposit box, checks are free and if I have a problem with a balance-so far it's always been me-they'll sit me down with a 'personal banker' to straighten it out. I've seen their problems on National TV but in Iowa I haven't seen it.

As an old neighbour once said..."if you go downtown in any large city you will see the largest buildings are owned by
banks and insurance companies. How do you suppose THAT happened?"

I get interest on business checking, just
need a $2500 minimum which is normal in my
business. Then I told them I had personal
checking and savings, they connected
accounts so I have no fees to worry about.

A older gent that is a friend of mine is an attorney. He was telling me that the other day at lunch, in the local caf?, the local bank president was complaining to him about the banking regulations making it so hard to do business. Dan told me that he had to remind him that every single one of those regulations had been put in place because a banker had been caught with a hand in somebody's pocket. gm

Few years back I started a 500 cd It got to around 900 bucks then I get a notice that any cd under a thousand there would be a 50 dollar charge a year. I called and asked them. mine was due in feb and she told me if I cashed it in it would not be charged. it really was my wifes cd. I told her to cash it in feb. she did and closed it out minus the 50 dollar charge. No banks for me anymore. Credit unions only. they pay ( how small it is ) interest on all accounts regardless of amount. my checks are free also. no brainer to me.

Glad the "stagecoach" is working well for you. I am not their friend because one of my clients was buying a new home they were financing. He was selling his other home and wanted a two week overlap for moving. Everything was approved right up until closing day on the new home. The loan rep showed up at the title company at the time we were supposed to close and told him they were not going to finance the new one until after the old house was sold. Builder of the new home was livid, Client was hot, movers were cancelled. Haven't touched a deal with a "stagecoach" on the paperwork since.

7 figures? When I hit 6 figures my bank practically threw me a party. Upgraded me to free everything and an interest-bearing checking account. There was literally a line of people in suits waiting to shake my hand and welcome me to what amounts to the "high rollers club."

You have the wrong bank if they take you for granted with 7 figure balances.

My daughter went to work for a credit union several years ago. So I bought four $5,000 CD's over a period of several weeks. 6 month CD's because this was money I might need. I needed some so I wanted to cash one of them in. The expiration date was on a Sunday, and Monday was a holiday so I went in on Tuesday. They informed me that you had to tell them three days before the expiration if you did not want to keep the CD invested. They charged me enough in fees that I made nothing on the six month's interest. So I cashed the other three on the spot and took a several hundred dollar hit but I have never darkened their door again. It's a business and they could have shown some flexibility but I was dealing with the Credit Union manager, a rather rigid lady. She probably needed something else. They have since closed. You rarely see credit unions close.

Stagecoach has a real bad reputation here, but still in business so someone must be using them.

If you look at it from a bank's point of view, they make money on loans, they have to pay out interest on deposits, so actually forlks with big
accounts of deposits are a liability, not a good thing.

They want to sell loans!

In days gone by, they needed deposits to have money to loan out; but in today's world they don't need much deposited relative to the amount of
loans any more, so less deposits, more loans is their business model.

Probably really don't mind seeing you go if you have no loans with them!

I have three checking accounts. Two pay interest at credit unions, no fees, and the bank checking is free but no interest. The interest isn't much but at least there are no fees. Might check with a local credit union but I sure wouldn't be paying any fee for checking.

I have had pretty good luck using the stage coach, pay no fees and lock box was free but needed larger one so they discounted it. Have 5 accounts with them and have paid no fees or no interest in years. I did pull CD's from them because their rates so low, I also don't like the long lines at teller as it is about as bad a WMart check out!

Banks seem to charge for everything now. What gripes me is if someone gives you a check and you take it to their bank to cash it they might charge as much as ten bucks to cash the check.

Way way foolish to have any more than $250k in any one bank.
FDIC only insures your money up to $250k for all funds in one bank.

I had a CD at my credit union ( mil's money).
She died, so I needed to cash it in the pay the bills.
It paid interest every 90 days, so the penalty was 1 period (90 Days) interest.
Then they turned around and paid interest on the 50 days since the last payment.
Can't beat a credit union.

I have a checking and a savings account with Chase Bank and don't get charged any fees. They tell me as long as I have a direct deposit into either if these accounts there are no fees. My SS and pension checks are direct deposited therefore,no fees. Very personable service also.

In the banking nosiness you have to remember that deposits, customer savings) are liabilities. Bank has to pay out money.. Loans on the other hand are "assets" They are generating income for the bank.
The SIL that took all her money out of the bank actually improved their bottom line. They probably insulted her on purpose.
