What's your shop look like?

I am a frequent reader but seldom post, the post below got me thinking. I would love to see photos of your shops. It gives me ideas on how to better organize mine. I have a 30 X 58 pole barn and am always looking for ideas. Plus it is fun just organizing stuff sometimes. So if you'd be so kind, let's see some pics!

22 x 34 Just small enough to keep me from collecting junk.

I would love to post pics of my stuff but I can't get the photo files into downloadable picture files. I'll show the mess and all.

Dirt floor, leaky roof, no heat and one overhead light.

DITTO. I have enough room to work but thats about it. If I cleaned it I would not have time to get anything done.

Only have one photo of the small entrance door way. Two by six walls built on a one foot concrete apron. Makes it easy to wash our and easy to heat. Walls have full 4+ inches of insulation. Try to keep it organized makes work easier.

This is the cleanest mine has been in a while. I've kind of been on a cleaning/organizing kick the last couple weeks. I'm working on the skidsteer in the corner now. It's been on hold for a few years. I want the floor space back.

You can come and organize ours. Two Unimogs sitting in the way, one has been in there for about ten years tore down, the other has been in the way with the transmission out of it going on four years this coming May waiting for a guy to come back and put it back together. I been cleaning up stuff around them for the last week trying to find the floor again.

Don't have any pics. Afraid to show any. It only took 12 years to completely fill it with junk to the point I can't even get a small car in there. A month ago I cleared enough space to get the truck backed in. Been pitching ever since. Still can't turn around in there.

happy with it😎

So Tim I can see the hydraulic test set up ,valves, cylinders, ect but can you mount a hydro and test it. If so what do you use to drive the input and electric motor? Thinking of moving ours indoors. Right now I have a movable frame with a 24hp motor mounted to do the testing but I think I like what I see in yours. Is there air to the cooler or just wall mounted>

Clean Burn is still the best of the oil heaters. I have tried some of the others . Have Two like yours there and after man gets them figured out they are cheap heat. Big thing is training your folks on how to handle the oil, keeping the water out ect. Shop looks good

Some of you have seen mine in the Roosty6 videos. Couple of rusty old cars surrounded by junk and a disorganized array of tools. It is the only shop on the farm with a cement floor and heat so that is where most of the work is done. Of course it is too low to get any of the big machinery in but they are at least out of the weather parked in the big sheds.

My half of a 2 car garage, and my buddy's place tonight where I'm usually at working. It's normally much cleaner then this, ;) rest of barn has old cars and camper.

This little shop works for me very well now that I am retired. It is only 18'x22'. Not much to heat or cool .Had a D 21 in it for a paint job, that was a tight fit. This smaller tractor fits much better.Being very little , it is not so hard to keep clean. clint

I'm insanely jealous of some of you guys.

My shop looks a lot like a junk yard somewhere above the Arctic Circle....

This is the wood working side of the home shed! (after I cleaned it off a few years back)

Roger the 'tank' is an oil filter crusher I have almost finished building. The top half is a 5X12 hydraulic cylinder and the bottom is the round shielding that surrounds the ram that crushes the filter. All I have left to do is lay something in for a bottom shelf to hold the container that catches the oil that squishes out of the filter, throw some paint on it and mount and plumb the hydraulic valve. My son and I joke that we can crush filters if we have had a bad day and need to take out our aggressions out on something. LOL

Always hate to see something like that.
Hope the insurance company is good to you.

ria, that is one of mine,, I have been thinking about making a puller out of it,,I have a real good plan for a differential lock for a 60,,and some good weight reduction ideas...I get excited about it for a bit then I sober up and put it on the back burner,,I use to pull back in the 70's with a good running 4230,,I had the bug...bad,,The 80's came along and money got short so I got away from the 'pulling bug',,now I'm kinda wanting to get back into it at a much lower level..

So Mike I take it that you're NOT waiting for a call from Sherry of Oliver Heritage Magazine for a photo shoot. lol

Jig,, I have a high school boy helping me,,Over the years I have had several,,the one I have now has been with me going on 3 years and is the best one yet,,he is going to be a very good mechanic,,and I will miss him a lot,,but I want the young boys that work for me to go on to a higher level,,this one is going to the Caterpillar school in Toledo in August. I don't want a full time employee,,and I enjoy showing young guys the trade..like one of the other post stated "some have it,,some don't". I still have a lot of energy to work,,and I have a learned short cuts and made some good splitting stands that make a big job easier.. I actually get more work done here with one helper than the 2 big dealer shops near me do with a dozen mechanics,,and that is one of the things that keep me busy..I enjoy working on these,,I take pride in doing a good job,,and I don't have the huge over head the big shops have. I know I will need to slow down in a few years,,but till then I'm staying at it..

I still have one eye open for a Model 60 Early Model here in Pa. Like your father had new for sale that's dirt cheap
but haven't found one dirt cheap, everyone wants too much & most have seen their better days. Couldn't tell if the one
pictured was a early model can't see the wheels.. I am currently installing fan shaft bearings in our Early 60. Have the
radiator & hood off, didn't want to touch the live hydraulic lines to the rear. Pretty sure the number on ours 23057..

jm.,,I can't spin a hydro unit,,I made this to deal with only closed center systems, steer valves,SCV's,power brakes and Pumps,,I have a jack shaft with a 4020 pump mounted on one end that can be disconnected, I bored that shaft and plug welded the splinned end of a pump shaft into it,, a diverter valve that will send charge oil and pressure oil to and from ether end of the shaft,,on the end opposite of the mounted pump I have a fixture to mount a pump to test,,at that point I disconect the permanent pump..shift the diverter valve to the pump to test and let it supply the test stand for that flow/pressure test,,I spin the jack shaft with a 30HP motor and have it belted to spin the jack shaft at 2100 RPM,to simulate a tractor running full throttle,, I have a charge pump mounted to the end of the motor. When not testing a pump i shift the permanent pump back onto the jack shaft and shift the diverter valve to send charge oil back to it,,then that pump supplys the test bench to test other components by plugging into the manifold on the bench,,a pressure port on the left end,,2 ports to a steer motor ,,then 2 ports to a 8X2 cylinder, then 2 ports to 2 gauges to test a brake valve, the the last one on the right end is return oil..I mounted an oil cooler of an old combine Hydro static,,there is no fan on it but I could add one if needed,,so far I have not needed to run a fan

Just kidding Mike, whatever it takes to do the job. And you have about 10 or so tractors I believe. That is a larger work area than I have.
