stock trailer opinions Travalong

I am thinking it's time to upgrade the 16 foot bumper hitch. I was at a farm show today and noticed a gooseneck Travalong stock trailer. Does anybody have any opinions on them, or any other brands they like.

They are a fairly good brand. They are mainly steel based. If you can afford it I would skip a new steel trailer and go to an aluminum one. Even a good used one is better than a new steel trailer. They just last so much better with a little maintenance. That on ours is washing it out kind of often. In the freezing weather in the winter it does not get washed every time but it does in the summer. We have a Feather Lite and a Wilson. I like the feather Lite better as far as doors and such but the Wilson is a little more rugged. We have had some fatigue cracks on the Feather lite that we have not had on the Wilson. I think I am going to a Ebe for the next one. Our semi stock trailer is an Ebe and it is just built strong. They are not cheap though.

good evening Kansas, you will like pulling a goose neck much better than a bumper pull, you don't get that fishtail swaying with a goose neck gives you much better control over a bumper pull.

If you load em right they don?t fishtail but it only
takes about 4 inches the wrong way and your in
real trouble real quick had this same trailer with the
same tractor almost kill me once . Your right a
bumper pull will handle a million times better than a
bumper pull ever will and it?s life or death loading

Did you mean EBY trailers? I have never heard of Ebe. I typed it in to look them up but all that comes up is EBY. I've never heard of them either. I actually went to the farm show with the intent to look at aluminum trailers. The way I understand it the aluminum division of Travalong split and became Travelum. I didn't care for the looks of that trailer at all. I'm a firm believer in cleaning them out every time it gets used. I only live 5 miles from the sale barn so right now I'm having trouble justifying the price difference in steel vs aluminum.

I have a 16 ft bumper pull.also. It's a Delta draft horse special. Got it in 1980. Painted it once. Needs it again. But my buddy has a 20 ft Feather-lite. 7000 lb axles. It pulls easier than my trailer. Wished I had bought a aluminium back in 80.

Travalong is a great trailer!! Made in Waterville KS across the street from Titan. I would NOT own a Titan stock trailer, unless is was a Classic. Travalong and Trailman were made in the same plant. Titan bought Trailman out a few years ago.
Not sure what part of Kansas you are in, but there are a BUNCH of stock trailers made in Kansas. Hillsboro isn't bad. Their Endura aluminium line, I think is what it is, is nice. I am still not sold on aluminium if you are mainly on wash boarded dirt roads, but highway use they are GREAT. I have a 93 Trailman 26 foot stocktrailer that the inside looks like new. I was it out almost everytime I use it, and have had mats in it since I have owned it. Its starting to show some rust from the outside so I need to start looking.

I own a Trav-a-long gooseneck flatbed. Bought it new in 2001. Never had any trouble with it and it pulls and trails very well at all speeds.

I have two of their trailers, very satisfied with both. There is customer service also if you have a question.

I don't know about the Travalong trailer, I purchased a new bumper pull Corn Pro steel trailer 5 years ago. I baby the thing, wash it and clean it inside and out after every use, don't use it if the roads are salty it still looks pretty good but I'm still fighting the rust. I wish I would have just paid the extra money for an aluminum trailer and been done with it. Every time I see one sell at an auction it seems to bring close to the price of a new one so they hold their value. With inflation you can probably buy one new, take good care of it and sell it ten years later for what you paid for it. I don't think you can do that with a steel trailer.

That's the same predicament I'm in. My trailer is a 94 Travelute. The inside looks great but starting to rust on the outside top. Still has a lot of life left but I'm looking around now.

There are many a reason to go with a bumper pull and not a gooseneck. And one eason that I can se is total length for storage as the gooseneck will be longer. Others are what is the truck bed being used for or if it is not used at all, does the truck have tool boxes mounted that would have to take of to hook up a gooseneck. Does the truck have a cap on the bed.

We started out with a steel Corn Pro and when a friend offered his Feather Lite 16' aluminum stock trailer, bumper pull, I jumped on it, even though I had to take out a short term loan to get it. Well worth it, looks like a new one 15 yrs. later. The Corn Pro was starting to rust after only 5 years of use. I could still today get what I paid for it back then. I recall when I was just looking there weren't that many even for sale. The bumper pull works better for us as we can fill the bed with tack (have a cap on the Chevy too) and it stores nicer than a gooseneck would, although sometimes I wish we had a bigger one.

34 years pulling trailers, 10 years ago I made the switch from steel to aluminum... wish I'd made the switch 34 years ago....

We just purchased a new Lakota Aluminum Bumper pull Stock Trailer this year, best trailer we have bought, taller, wider, much better built. They also make Goose neck trailers, highly recommend.

I had a bumper pull, and then got a gooseneck. I would not have another bumper pull if hauling very much weight. There is no comparison in handling. Cattle don't stand still and they can walk you all over the road. The goose neck handles much better.

sv I have to tell you, you have way bigger kahonas than I got  looking at the pic of that truck and trailer combo, I wouldn't be going any higher than 1st. gear! one twitch of that steering wheel and your going tree pruning. I have had the scary experience of having a bumper pull (not loaded right) take off on me on a gravel road at about 55 mph! and it sure got my complete and undivided attention  after I got the truck and my heart shut down, a quick change of under wear and we proceeded home at a much more leisurely pace.
