Does anyone know of a blacksmith that can sharpen plowshares? Does anyone know of a source for such plow shares? I have a Allis Chalmers Wd round beam plow could use some shares and sharpen the ones I have .

For new contact Ploworks at Salem Ohio. I know of nobody to sharpen but if you have access to a AO torch and an anville you can do it your self. I could guide you on here.

Plowshare rebuilding may be a nearly lost art.

My father had a couple blacksmith/welding shops in town to choose from that would work your plowshares back into shape and hard-face them(studite??)

I remember Pops taking a worn set of deep-suck shares to town...one with the point broken off. Looked like new when we picked them up.

That was years ago...those fellows are dead now...plowing and plows are used a lot less. I imagine there are still some welding shops capable of the job but have no idea who or where!!

This won't help any with finding someone to sharpen your plows. Just made me think of the past.

My grandpa was a blacksmith. I remember as a kid watching him heat the plows up in a forge and beat them out with a hammer. In later years he bought a trip hammer to beat them out with. Sure made his life easier.

Where are you located? I believe I have some NOS AC shares.
