My new tires are on order, should be here tomorrow, but I am rolling so may not get them on before I head North again.

This is someone's attempt at being funny, but this is PRECISELY WHY they salt the roads as much as they do.

People refuse to learn how to drive in winter.
People refuse to buy proper snow tires for their vehicles.

So, the first time it snows after the roads have been clear for a week, it is gridlock, with cars in the ditch, upside down, people missing limbs, staggering around in a daze, bleeding all over the place... I'm not even exaggerating.

Where is this happening? I live in one of the snowier places in the US and I have yet to see a car off the road. I have not heard of any car accidents where people were injured or killed. With all that blood and maiming, have you been watching a lot of sick movies on Netflix?

Hobo it is possible it may be too cold for the brine to work after it turns
colder again tomorrow. Travel to the northwest about 50 miles and you will
be out of the snow belt.

Have to disagree. I hate the mess the brine makes but our state sometimes will spray just the overpasses and it's obvious where they have and have not sprayed.

We are blessed with trees the sun is blocked from the roads the snow turns into a ice patch that may linger for a week. Rust was never a problem but its beginning to be :(... Normally when snow is in the forecast it just rains and that brine becomes a real mess...

I shut my show down and enjoy the days off I am not working in snow and not working on a car with ice/snow on it at one time I had to but not anymore. I am pulling my tow truck in the shop today its not going out in this mess. It needs a brake job and other things looks like a good time to get at it.

That accident scene is common anywhere on I-94 going from Gray Indiana to west side of Detroit.
The problem is lake effect show coming off Lake Michigan drifting east.
You can have clear skies and sunshine for miles then run into a wall of whiteout snowfall.
Then some slow down and some don't. Which results in collisions and pile ups as shown.

I live in the rust-snow belt and car is gray under all the white stuff. Wish we were getting just an 1" of snow. It has started snowing again and in the next
48 hours we are to get 7-12" of snow.

What part of NC are you in?

I did two tours at MCAS, Cherry Point, and had civilian friends in Wilmington, Clinton, Kinston, and Greenville, among other places. Plus, at one point a buddy and I had a house trailer at Atlantic Beach and for a couple of years were more beach bum than Marine.

Understand on the radio this snow is even putting a dusting in
Florida? SJ along the shore is looking for 3-6 possible.

As of three PM a couple of stations are hedging their bets. Possible six inch plus with eight possible along the shore.

I saw a 2" snowfall in Cherry Point NC back in the day. You could tell the northern boys on base because they were the ones driving like it was no big deal. Everyone else was in the ditch!
