I just acquired a Ford 3000 gas tractor! It is actually en route as we speak. It is NOT running, has a blow head gasket. I'll know tomorrow when it gets here whats what. Apparently everyone else is working well.
just wanted to say hi and I am looking forward to being a member here on the forum!

Welcome and good luck with your new one. I know the folks on here have helped me out tremendously. My most recent acquisition is a Ford 3600. Your 3000 is a nice size tractor. I have 8 tractors now, but they all get used on a 30 acre operation. Produce and hay, so lots of specialized equipment to pull.

Welcome! That series Ford 3,4,5000 were great tractors. Hopefully you get it fixed up and running well. The ignition system on those gassers is sort of a pain to get at.

There were many changes over the production run of the 3000. Under the RH hood panel, or it if that is missing then stamped INTO the bell housing are the model, tractor, and unit numbers. You will need these to get the correct parts. Tractor number is a single letter followed by all numbers. The letter is the plant code "A" and "B" are European built, "C" is the US plant. The unit number is always formatted as number, letter, number, letter (example 7C14B) that is the date of final assembly. The example given would be March 14th 1967 on day shift. When buying your head gasket you will need to know which size head bolts you have 1/2" or 9/16", the change was in early 1968.
