Not a ferguson man

Have a friend that has a 49 TO30 Ferguson. Its painted red and he says its always been red. I didn't think anything was red tell around 57 or 58. Am I right or wrong. Thanks

If he has 1949 would be TO-20 and would be Gray. TO-30 made 1951-53

Did he buy it new? probably the only way to know for sure is if he is the original owner.

If I recall red tin started in 1958, before that the tin was either beige or gray.

If it says TO-30. Check the serial number. This is from tractordata.com,
mine is 134945 i.e.-1954.
1951: 60001
1952: 72680
1953: 108645
1954: 125929
Final: 140000

Easiest way to tell the TO-20 and 30 apart, find the oil filter. TO-20 is up in the oil pan, 30 has it outside right under the carb.
