John Deere 7000 planter - rebuild gauge wheels??

I have a John Deere 7000 6 row with 5 more planting units on it making it an eleven row 15" bean planter. In doing routine maintenance I have been noticing that the front rows have loose gauge wheels at the pivoting point. Taking washers out still won't necessarily hold the rubber wheel up to the double disk opener. They need rebuilt. I see there are at least three kits to snug the wheels up against the openers. I was wondering about the pros and cons of each rebuild kit or others you might know of. The three I know of are: 1) a threaded bushing which you can turn its threads and move the gauge wheel in or out, 2) The eccentric bushing with the locking nut/washer, and 3) the RK product which seems to basically "squeeze" the gauge wheel arm on the shaft using the washers. Ideas/comments appreciated. Thanks

I rebuilt mine with the threaded ones several years ago. I was happy with the result. You need to keep them greased up good so they don't get gummed up but that is true for them all.

The threaded one works great. You can order them from Shoup. It’s a good time to replace gauge wheel bearings too.

I agree with fixerupper and ADB with the shoup screw adjust. I have them on my Kinze. Make sure that you have enough shims in to keep the arm from binding on the pivot. If it binds it'll work your gauge wheel arm loose. Also if you're no-tilling soybeans into cornstalks keep an eye on them. Bean stubble doesn't bother but cornstalks have a tendency to loosen the attaching bolt.
